Topic: Dreaming the Volcano II

At the last retreat, we explored the territory that will dominate most astrological counsel over the next four years-the series of Uranus-Pluto squares as they unfold in the light of the transformative power of Neptune's entry into Pisces.

In this March program, we will briefly recapitulate the basic elements of our understanding of those events, but we will concentrate on the practical integration of these energies into the larger realities of astrological counsel. Our aim will be to support a sophisticated, integrated view of the full spectrum of personal transits, progressions, and solar arcs in the special light of the present challenges and possibilities.

We will rely heavily on our "Sorting Hat," working with the charts of class members. Those who missed the last program will not feel lost - we will quickly bring them up to speed, and then go forward together in a very practical direction.

This program counts towards certification through Steven's astrology apprenticeship program.

Evolutionary Astrology Workshop
March 16-18, 2012

On Friday night March 16, Steven will give a talk about the significance of the recent entry of Neptune into Pisces. Healthy astrology honors two principles: a respect for human differences and a reverence for the human capacity to make free choices. As each chart is different, so is each lifepath. There are a few elemental ethical principles which we all benefit from obeying—basically the Ten Commandments. Beyond that, our existences are blank slates upon which we write the stories of our individual lives. But which story is really our own? Which one can consistently fill us with the fire of life? Which choices reflect the evolutionary intentions of our souls? Built into the birthchart, if we have eyes to see them, are the precious answers to those questions.

Steven will guide students into an in-depth understanding of his unique approach to Evolutionary Astrology. Students spend 4 days immersed in study, with lecture and step-by-step instruction in methodology with birth charts drawn from the pool of attendees.

In this *triple treat* program, Steven will address 2 astrological specialties and then open the forum for chart readings. During the readings, the person selected will be allowed to ask one "burning question" about any one part of their natal chart or an upcoming transit.

Intentional Transits and Progressions

What if transiting Saturn is heading for an opposition to your Sun? The conventional astrological response is to make the sign of the cross, utter an expletive - and to take refuge in the promise that This Too Shall Pass. In that universe of belief, we are the victims of “bad” astrological weather and the beneficiaries of “good” weather. In both cases we are passive in relation to the planets, as inert as billiard balls knocked around on the table of life. How might we do better than that? How might we fully embody the choice-centered principles of Evolutionary Astrology? Instead of trying to predict what will happen, let’s begin to anticipate the nature of the possibilities inherent in an upcoming configuration. We will face fears and any Shadow-work honestly, but we will never clip the wings of our imaginations by looking no further than the heavy side of things. Always, we keep our eye on the prize - the lesson our soul is learning, and the easiest, most harmonious and efficient path to embodying it.

Astrology and Reincarnation: Finding the Chart Behind the Chart

Whether or not we believe in reincarnation, one point is sure: no one comes into the world as a blank slate. Every baby is born with a nature—and children born into the same families often turn out very differently. Understood in the light of the idea of reincarnation, these phenomena begin to make sense. But how can we understand them astrologically? Until recently, even among metaphysical astrologers, the answer hasn’t gone very far beyond vague references to the south lunar node. Over the past decade or so, under the banner of Evolutionary Astrology, a set of very specific techniques have emerged for sorting the past life story out of the present birthchart. These methodologies do involve the Moon’s south node, but also its ruler and the planetary aspects it makes, ultimately reframing the entire chart as the result of prior-life dynamics—and meaningful present-life evolutionary intentions.
