A Free Subscription To Lila!
Want to have Steven Forrest in your pocket? That’s how many early adopters have described LILA (say: LEE-la), our astrological mobile app for iPhones and Androids. To spread the word about it, we’re giving away a free four-month subscription to anyone who wants one, no strings attached. Just hit this link and it’s all yours.
https://link.lilaverse.app/Steven120
Please give it a try. There are some more step-by-step details below, but the offer is simple and straightforward. If you like it, feel free to share the link with your friends too – the link will work for anyone who has it and we are eager to spread it as widely as possible.
All along, we’ve kept tight quality control over what we’re creating. That meant no big money from outside investors with their own commercial agendas or “hurry up” attitudes. Sticking to our own voice and our own pace has been the right choice – but it has also meant no advertising budget.
Bottom line: we think LILA is the best astrology app out there, at least when it comes to speaking to grown ups – but hardly anybody knows about it. That’s why we are doing this giveaway. We want our work “out there.” A big part of LILA will always be free, but naturally we are hoping that you’ll fall in love with the app and decide to spring for the Premium version for $9.49 a month, $24.99 a quarter, or $89.99 a year after your four month freebie trial runs out.
WHY LILA IS DIFFERENT
If you’re reading these words, you very probably already understand that my approach to astrology is spiritual and psychological – and totally centered on choices you make. It’s meant to be empowering rather than “predictive.” That philosophy runs through every word you’ll read in the app. It’s my kind of astrology and very different from the mainstream “here’s your personality and here’s your future” stuff. Many people have worked on the project, but I wrote most of the text. It’s pure evolutionary astrology.
The back story? In January 2018, I met with two close friends – former NFL great, Ricky Williams, and his hyper-competent wife, Linnea Miron. They were both astrology students of mine and they had a vision for an app that might bring evolutionary astrology to a wider audience. The day we first talked about it, I woke up at 3:00 AM and by dawn I had made a start on the writing. That’s how excited I was by what they had in mind.
We’ve got big plans for growing LILA even further, but we’ve now reached a point where we feel that it is truly ready for Prime Time. That’s why we’re making this big push.
THE TEN-CENT TOUR
Let me show you around what we have created. This will be a quick look, but it will give you a sense of how LILA works – and how it can be like a wise friend who loves and respects you, but also sees your blindspots and isn’t afraid to warn you about them. (That idea pretty much summarizes the philosophy that has guided us in creating the app, by the way.)
After you’ve downloaded LILA and entered your birth information, you’re ready to go. It opens on the “Daily” screen, which focuses on what’s happening right now, mostly with the Moon. This part of LILA helps you get in sync with the cosmos as your day gets going. Here’s an example of what you will see:
Scroll down, and you come to a screen that shows the effects of the Moon’s current phase on everyone – and, under “Self-Care,” the house through which the Moon is currently passing in your own chart. (Note that with all of the screens I am showing here, you can scroll further and go deeper . . .)
NAVIGATION
Note that at the bottom of both of these screens, you’ll see four icons with these words: My Chart, Daily, Transits, and Connections. Those are your passageways into the rest of LILA.
-
My Chart gives you a deep, evolutionary perspective on your natal chart.
-
Daily is what we were just looking at – the energy of the day.
-
Transits is your current personal astrological weather report – and it’s set up for both the quick transits and for a deeper look at the longer, slower ones.
-
Connections is where you can enter the birth data of people you love and reflect on the synastry that links you together. By the way, unlike most apps, LILA does not assume that all your relationships are romantic or sexual – that’s one reason why we call it “astrology for grown-ups.”
Here’s an example of what you’ll see when you click My Chart – in this case, it is an analysis of a natal Mercury in Capricorn and the 3rd house. (Agan, this is just the opening screen – there’s more to read as you scroll.)
(Once again, keep scrolling and you’ll go deeper and deeper.)
Those of you who are familiar with my work know that I always begin a natal analysis with a look at what I call the Primal Triad of Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. That’s all here in LILA, but Ricky Williams has transformed it into the Primal Quad. He did that in a very cool way by adding your “Strongest Planet” to the recipe. For many of us, one planet is simply dominant. How do we calculate that? Back in 1939, the Church of Light introduced a technique called Astrodynes for determining the relative power of each planet in a person’s chart. Ricky and I modified their formulas to fit better with evolutionary astrology. Knowing that someone is “the embodiment of Venus” or “the embodiment of Pluto” really adds a new dimension to chart analysis, and it’s now a big part of LILA – and one you won’t find anywhere else, at least for a while. We have also allowed for the possibility of somebody being “a Moon type,” but with Uranus as a close second.” That adds a whole new level of precision to this fresh way of looking at people astrologically. We think that knowing one’s strongest planet is on par with the importance of knowing someone’s Sun Sign. Here’s the screen that gets you going with finding your own strongest planet:
And here are the kinds of insights you’ll find there:
Once again, as you scroll on, you can go deeper and deeper into what it means to have a planet so dominant in your chart.
TRANSITS
All that we have seen so far is about the natal chart. What about transits? The Daily screen gets you going with some immediate astrological weather, but LILA can take you much further. We start with a very basic distinction between the quick transits of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars versus those of the slower outer planets. You can activate either Short Term or Long Term transits. Each gives you a different perspective on your life – basically your best immediate tactics for the quick ones and your best way to think strategically for the slow ones.
Click “Short Term” under transits and here’s what you’ll see:
This screen gives you access to an ever-changing astrological kaleidoscope of quick transits. As you click and scroll further, it provides the kinds of insights that help you stay tuned to the cosmic rhythms as they change in your life over time-scales of days or weeks.
If you hit “Long Term,” week after week you might read exactly the same things. That’s because Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto move slowly. It’s also why we wanted to keep them separate – reading the same words every day could get boring pretty fast. Still, those slow boats reflect truly life-shaping astrological events. They’re the big picture. We imagine you settling down on a Sunday morning over a cup of coffee or two for a long talk with LILA, helping you keep perspective on the changing reality of what is important in your life. On Monday morning, you’re back to the Daily screen and the short term transits.
Here’s an example of what you might see on the Long Term screens:
CONNECTIONS
What about synastry? Just hit Connections and you can enter anyone’s birth information, see their chart, and compare it with your own. Even easier, if they are already using LILA, you can reach out to them via the app and get their birth info that way – we’re building a Community!
We’re already happy with the synastry section of LILA, but we’ve got big plans for taking it further. Right now, here’s the kind of screen you’ll see when you enter the data for a friend, a family member, or a partner:
You can take it from there and learn about your friend’s chart and see how your charts fit together – or how they don’t! As always, LILA’s orientation is toward helping you understand and respect each other. There’s no thumbs up or thumbs down on anyone’s love life. LILA is also sensitive to modern understandings about the fluidity of gender – we’re “pronoun enabled.” And, unlike many apps, if you’re interested in your relationship with a grandchild, we won’t be making any suggestions about how to improve your sex life!
WHAT’S NEXT?
Soon, we’ll be deploying a new, rather revolutionary section of LILA. Several weeks ago, I made a trip up to Grass Valley, California, to work with Ricky and Linnea and one of our programmers, Sam Krishna. We focussed on something I was not sure was even possible: getting LILA to create a past life story based on the analysis of the nodes of the Moon, their rulers, and their aspects. Much to my surprise and delight, it seems to be working. With only my birth data to work with, LILA generated a tale of me as a Tibetan monk. That rang true! It placed my artist partner, Michelle, among painters in Venice – a city where she has actually spent a lot of time painting.
We’re still tweaking this part of LILA. Stay tuned! It’s already pretty good, but we know we can make it better before we put it into general release. As you know, in evolutionary astrology, unresolved patterns from prior lifetimes play a huge role in our understanding. LILA to the rescue!
So that completes your quick guided tour of our app. We’re really proud of it and eager to get it out there into wider use. Please download it, enjoy it, and share it with your friends. We are confident that it can add a sense of meaning and purpose to anyone’s life, helping us to see the purpose behind all the seemingly random things that happen to us all. Like everything else in astrology, it’ll help you be the right person at the right place at the right time making the right judgement calls.
Thank you for your help in getting the word out.
A couple of FAQs about your four-month free trial period:
Q: Will I be auto-charged after the four months expire?
A: No. Lila does not auto-charge when a free trial period ends. Upon its expiration, if you want to continue accessing the premium content, a paywall will appear asking you to become a subscriber (Monthly for $9.49, Quarterly for $24.99, and Annual is $89.99). Otherwise, you'll just remain a free LILA member, but with limited content access. The Annual subscription has the greatest value, and not only because you have access to the full content of the app, but you also get free access to the interactive live Zoom webinars that Steven Forrest and Ricky Williams host for the LILA community every month (for everyone else, it’s $15 per webinar).
